Come over and sit a spell…

Back in the “old days” this meant to feel free and visit for a while.   Today, our neighborhood held a cookout to get to know each other.  The official party/event was to be held from 3pm to 5pm.  About 40 people (adults and kids) came to visit.   It turns out we spent over 3 hours “sitting a spell”.   I met about 15 couples in my neighborhood.  Some of them I knew by name, others I’d never seen. 

All in all it was a great afternoon spent getting to know my neighbors.  My neighborhood has approximately 50 or so houses.  I know about 5 families that weren’t there today. That leaves about 30 families that I still don’t know.

Do you know your neighbors?  I know MORE now..  I encourage you to invite your neighbors over to sit a spell.
